After a decade of experience in software IT outsourcing services , TechTeam Akela has responded to the needs of more than 200 clients from Romania, EU zone, Central and Eastern Europe and the US.

2000: Akela became a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider and ISO 9001 certified. These certifications have been renewed annually, and TechTeam Akela is today a Microsoft Certified Partner and has an ISO 9001:2000 compliant Quality Management System, accredited by COFRAC, RENAR and UKAS.

Akela's average revenue has increased annually by 20%, a sustainable growth, which gradually turned Akela into a major player on the Romanian software IT outsourcing market. Our staff has grown from 8 in the early years to more than 150 software engineers all of them talented and educated people who embraced Akela's business philosophy and customer-oriented attitude.

2004: In order to smooth the transition stages of offshore / nearshore outsourcing, Akela became the first Romanian software outsourcing company to open a fully operational branch in the US. In doing so, Akela has taken an important step aimed at bringing US customers the best of both worlds: the savings and quality of software outsourcing to Romania, and the reliability and trust of a local American company.

2005: In January 2005, the company was named to the Annual Offshore 100 ranking of top global suppliers by offshore outsourcing advisory expert neoIT and CMP's Managing Offshore Newsletter and one of the Top 5 Nearshore Suppliers in Central and Eastern Europe.

Akela joins the Global corporation TechTeam, developing into a premier Software Application Management Outsourcing Services Company in Europe

2005: Given our positive long-term results and favourable prospects for growth in the European market for nearshore software outsourcing services , in October 2005 TechTeam Global acquired Akela Romania. The acquisition aimed at establishing TechTeam’s presence in the software development outsourcing market and expand its service offerings in the systems integration and consulting services business segment. By benefiting from TechTeam’s financial strength and extensive physical presence throughout Europe and US, as well as from its extensive experience in managing and delivering integrated help desk, ITO and systems integration solutions, TechTeam Akela gained increased visibility and competitiveness among providers of nearshore services in Eastern Europe.

2006: Akela had already started the process of obtaining its CMMi certification in 2005. The CMMI certification was obtained in December 2006, making Akela the first company in Romania to have received a CMMI-DEV certification and one of the first in Europe to have obtained it under the newest version 1.2. This certification, along with sustained investments in Quality and Project Management, underlined Akela's position as a leader in the Eastern European software development industry.

2007: The year 2007 found TechTeam Akela with a team of over 200 software development engineers , with an annual turnover of 4 million Euros and with a significantly consolidated position on the European market.
